Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been criticized for saying he wouldn’t use the Xbox One energy sword and the Halo franchise as an example of how Microsoft can do well.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Nadell said he doesn’t see the power of the energy sword as a metaphor for Microsoft.
He said the energy Sword is an example and not a rule.
“I’m not the one who’s making rules, I’m the one that makes rules, and I can’t see a way of doing something that would make it not work,” Nadello said.
“That’s not my job.”
Nadell has been in the spotlight recently because of Microsoft’s recent decision to scrap the Xbox 360 version of Halo 3, the franchise that has served as a benchmark for Microsoft’s game development efforts.
The company also announced the cancellation of a Halo 4 event and has been embroiled in a legal battle with Electronic Arts over the rights to the franchise.
